Definition of “personal information”

When used in this policy and in accordance with Canadian privacy laws, “personal information” is defined as any information about an identifiable individual, which can include, for example, your name, date of birth, mailing address, email address, CV, SIN, banking information, group insurance, and pension plan.

Personal information can also include more technical information such as your IP address. This can thus apply to any person who visits the difuze website, but only with regard to information that can identify you. Moreover, information that has been pooled or rendered anonymous and that cannot be associated with an identifiable individual, is not considered to be personal information.

Personal information that is collected and how it is used

We limit our collection of personal information to what is reasonably required for specific purposes. Information that we may collect depending on the nature of our relationship with you includes:

Email address
Social insurance number
Banking information

Please note that we do not collect, use, or disclose your personal information without your consent except where required or permitted by law. This information may be collected in various ways, including the following:

a) Directly from you
When you first contact us, we may collect certain personal information from you. This may happen, for example, if you submit an application for employment to our website or mail us a CV.

If you contact us to request a demonstration of our products or services, we may collect certain specific information from you to help us determine your needs.

During the hiring process, we may request personal information from outside sources who are helping us with our search. However, we would not do so without first obtaining your consent.

For example, we may request information about your academic background or request your consent for a criminal record check to confirm the accuracy of the information you have provided us before proceeding with the hiring process.

c) Other authorized purposes
In exceptional circumstances, difuze may be required to disclose personal information to comply with a law, a regulation, a court order, a subpoena, a valid formal notice, or a search warrant or in the case of a government inquiry or any other legally valid request for information.

We may also share your information with our accountants, auditors, agents, or lawyers in the interest of protecting or exercising our legal rights.

d) With your consent
It is possible that, in addition to the above-mentioned purposes, we may, with your implicit or implied consent and in keeping with applicable law, communicate or disclose your personal information with persons or entities outside our group of companies.

 

How does difuze manage consent?

When you visit the difuze website to apply for a job or write to us, you are consenting to your personal information’s being collected, used, and disclosed in the ways described in this policy. So it’s important to understand that your consent may be implicit. In other words, your implied consent may be inferred from your action or inaction at the time your personal information is collected, used, or communicated.

When using your personal information for a new purpose or for purposes other than those specified in this policy at the time they are collected, we will again ask for your consent.

 

Collection of children’s personal information

In one of difuze’s spheres of activity where dubbing is done, difuze hires children or young people under the age of eighteen to lend their voices to productions that have been recorded in other languages. Obviously, no children or youths under the age of eighteen are hired without the consent of their parent or legal guardian.

In accordance with this policy, difuze does not share information obtained about children, regardless of the source, to any third party for any reason.

 

Union des artistes (UDA), ACTRA, & service providers

All service providers who are members of the Union des artistes and/or ACTRA authorize difuze to collect, record, and transmit certain confidential information related to their remuneration to third parties in the context of a client-difuze service delivery relationship.

 

Access to and collection of personal information

Subject to limitations defined by law, you have the right to access personal information that we have aboutyou. At your request, we will give you access to and transmit your personal information within a reasonable time in accordance with the applicable law.

In the course of your relationship with difuze, if you need to communicate personal information, it is your responsibility to provide us with true, correct, and complete information.

 

Changes to this policy

If it becomes necessary to make changes to this policy, any changes that are made will become effective when the revised policy is posted on the difuze website.

If significant changes are made to the policy, we will post a notice on our website. The effective date found at the top of this policy is the date of its most recent update.

 

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that websites save to your computer or smart phone when you visit them. They enable websites to save information about your browsing habits and may contain a unique identifier called a cookie ID that allows them to recognize the browser on which the cookie is stored without identifying you.

Cookies enable websites to remember certain data related to your visit that facilitate future visits and make them more personal and convenient.

 

Retention of confidential data

difuze either destroys all personal information once the purpose of their collection has been fulfilled or makes it completely anonymous so it can be used for serious and legitimate reasons subject to conditions and the retention period provided for by law.

Any of your personal information that has been collected and processed in the “contact” section of the difuze website will be retained only until your application has been processed, after which it will be destroyed.

 

Hyperlinks and third parties

Our website may contain hyperlinks to share, publish, or link to other websites or third-party platforms.When using or activating those hyperlinks, you leave our website, and your navigation becomes subject to the terms of use and privacy policies of those websites. We have no control over those third-party websites and platforms, and the fact that they are mentioned on our website in no way engages our responsibility for information they publish.

 

Your rights

In accordance with current legislation, you have the right to access your personal information, inspect it, have it rectified, and request its deletion. You can also object to its processing and limit its use when applicable. difuze nevertheless reserves the right to use that data for legitimate and justified reasons.
